New site from FCS Websites

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

ss200_cs.jpgA new website has recently been put live for Custom Solutions, a Leicester based engraving and fabrication company. The site is powered by Expression Engine by EllisLabs, our first site using their content management system. Previous sites had used Code Igniter, another EllisLabs product, but Expression Engine made the deployment of the Custom Solutions site even quicker.

Clive can now update his own pages and products through the easy to use administration system, and has been adding new products already! The advantage of having a content managed site instead of having each page hand coded is that the whole site can now be backed up in one go, and each page is guaranteed to be consistent.

Have a look at Clive’s engraving and fabrication at Custom Solutions.

Review: Vauxmoore

Friday, October 12th, 2007

The common stereotype is that garages rip you off. Unfortunately, I have found this to be the case too. I know a fair bit about how cars work, how long things take and what parts cost. Therefore, I can spot when I am being scammed.

Having just started my new job, I was looking for an independent garage within walking distance of work. I don’t use main dealers as I have found them expensive and indifferent towards older cars like mine. I found Vauxmoore , just off Radford road, opposite the Horse and Groom pub. Chris the owner is polite, customer focused and extremely knowledgeable, especially on Vauxhalls having worked for them as a mechanic. Vauxmoore aim to give dealer quality service or better, at realistic prices.

I had a full service and some odds and sods sorted, including a petrol leak in the engine bay. They kept me up to date with progress during the day, and asked before carrying out any extra work. Parts were well priced, and labour charges matched the work done, not rounded up to an hour for each five minute task.

All in all, I am really happy with the care taken with my car, the price and the excellent service. Vauxmoore are my new garage P

Fitting Corsa C repeaters to the Calibra

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Warning: This article contains tasks that may cause you to be electrocuted, sanded, cut or burned. You may also ruin your car. None of these things are my fault if you do them, right?

Despairing in my orange nipple side repeaters, I purchased some Corsa C repeaters and obtained the wiring and plug from a smashed Corsa B in the scrappy. Never one to take the easy route, I avoided the aftermarket repeaters that fit straight in the hole on a Calibra/Nova/Cavalier wing. I decided to Dremel my wings to bits instead P
