Living in a field: Two weeks on

Friday, September 7th, 2007
  • There is no such thing as “nipping to the shop”
  • Flying creatures cannot get out of open windows
  • There are an infinite number of mosquitoes
  • Weasels run really fast
  • It smells really bad here sometimes
  • Nobody can hear you scream
  • You can see people coming and prepare defences/pretend to be out

Got the keys to my new house share and moved some stuff today. I have been hankering after living in the country for a little while and this seems right P

Post uni emptiness

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

After a massive buildup to the last exam and an epic drinking session, the dust has settled, leaving a big hole in my life. I have been a skint student for four years, and started working full time the monday after I finished my degree. By tuesday lunch I was bored shitless and feeling empty. My plan ran out at “go to uni and kick its ass”…

End of degree…

Monday, May 7th, 2007

I have my last exam on friday, and that’s the end of uni.  Feeling a mixture of things about it really.  I’m pretty bored of playing their games, but I will miss it. I actually know what i’m doing now, so it’s about learning interesting stuff instead of flapping around in confusion.

I will see a whole lot of people on friday that I will probably never see again.  That’s a good thing in a couple of cases, but I will miss some of them.  We have been through a lot together.

What they didn’t prepare us for is the utter terror of moving out of student digs, getting a job and making decisions about our future.  It all comes at once, and its terrifying.  It costs a fortune to live anywhere these days, so it means getting a job pronto and finding somewhere to live that isn’t a chav infested ghetto.

What will I do without the structure of semesters? How will I cope without the uni eye candy? What will become of me? And how long before I have either a Lexus or another knackered old shed instead of the pink N*va?
