The Sober Social
What?
An effort to arrange and participate in creative and satisfying social activities that do not revolve around smoking, drinking or taking drugs. A ‘straightedge’ influenced social arrangement, but not merely going to the same pubs or clubs and not drinking, but an entirely different angle.
Why?
Because we are bored of drinking culture, cigarettes, drugs, loud and appalling music, posers, meatheads, tarts and pointlessness of trying to socialise with your mates in a noisy bar. To support the social lives of those that may have had an over fondnesses for drink or drugs.
Where?
Funky, individual bars and cafes. Restaurants. Independent cinemas. Galleries. Theatres. In people’s houses. In the country – parks, beaches, mountains and fields.
Who?
Anyone who doesn’t like the idea of town centre bars, huge cinemas or the TV. Those with an interest in art or music. Creative types. People with ideas and something to say.
When?
Whenever. During the day, evening or night. Midweek or weekends.
How?
There is nobody in charge and no structure. Find some people that you like, and find something interesting to do, preferably something that you have never done before. Go off and do it.
