Sometimes, nothing makes sense to me…
The media are corporations who chase profits to satisfy shareholders and they also carry advertising. How can these companies accurately and honestly tell us the news when it will often cause a conflict of interests? The media are also closely regulated by the government too. Do we have independent and trustworthy sources of information? I think not.
Commercial Radio is based on profits, the BBC are a government sanctioned institution. Playlists are decided by the bosses rather than voted on by listeners or picked by DJs. All the stations play the same appalling chart music and carry the same news. I cannot set up a radio station playing music of my choice. This is very, very wrong.
TV is monitored and sanitised – anything vaguely interesting is on in the middle of the night. A handful of people complaining can make sure that a program does not air, even if thousands might enjoy it. TV stations are also businesses and carry advertising. Do we have a broad range of political opinion and brutal dissection of current events? No. Do we have censored, meaningless shit, soap operas, football and propaganda beamed into every home? Yes. Do we have to pay for the BBC whether we watch it or not? Yes. Does this situation stink?
Businesses are in existence to make money. To expand their markets, exploit the workers and please shareholders. Most businesses run in debt. Markets cannot expand forever – there is a limit to the potential size of market and disposable income of each person. Consumption of resources and saturation of markets dictates this model cannot continue. We will run out of natural resources and places to bury all this disposable shit at some point.
Many of our products are made in the Far East in sweatshops by poor bastards in factories who get paid next to nothing to manufacture electronics and clothes. We pay silly amounts for these clothes. Who makes all the money then? Call centre and retailing jobs are increasing, skilled trades and smaller shops are being forced out by larger companies. Pub chains serving appalling microwaved food. Supermarkets staffed by lifeless drones wearing primary colours. Call centres full of people who don’t give a shit about you, get timed when they urinate and are basically there to lie to you and fob you off as fast as possible.
Technology is not applied for our benefit – it is used to increase profits of large companies. New products are introduced at strategic times to revive dwindling markets. Cycles of obsolescence are encouraged to make us buy new things and upgrade the things we have. For example, cars are designed to last x amount of years and cost x amount to look after.
Ignorance is encouraged to keep us unthinking and docile. We are easier to control and easier to sell things to if we don’t understand what is happening around us. Anyone who stands up to the “establishment” is discredited and slandered.
Christianity is part of education. Children are part of nativity plays at 5 years old. Christianity with all its hypocrisy and guilt is our national religion. It is taught to kids as part of their education. Is this really what we want to teach kids? What has caused more oppression, torture and death over the last 2000 years than Christianity? It is out of date, superstitious and based in flawed documentation suchas incomplete stories written by peasants, translated from a difficult language by people who want to use it to control others. Christians also blatantly ignore what is written in the Bible. Does it not teach a simple life and to be good to others?
We are perpetually fighting with various people in so-called “wars” and have been since WW2. Why is this? Could it be because war is profitable and without the “threat” of “terrorism” maybe we would turn round and sack the government, as we realise that they are no longer needed?
When it comes to election time, you can choose which band of crooks you want to exploit you for the next 4 years. We live in a system that perpetuates itself and we all accept that it is the right way to live. This is not democracy because the politicians make all the rules, including the one that says “there must be politicians”.
Rent and purchase of “property” (aka “somewhere to live”) is stupidly expensive. The housing market is manipulated by the people who stand to profit most – the estate agents/letting agents. As property prices rise, people rush to buy houses. If we all got a grip and avoided the engineered panic, prices would fall again. Council houses, sorry, “properties” now fetch, I mean, “attract” £100k. What it going on? Mortgages are retarded. You buy a £50k house and pay back something like £200k. Buying and selling a house is complicated by the middlemen, to their profit.
Everything is a distraction. Take a step back and see that nothing really matters, as you are going to die. The happiest people are those that can keep busy enough to ignore the inevitable, or trick themselves into thinking that everything is fine. It is not fine. We are going to wipe ourselves out either by poisoning ourselves and our habitat or just plain blowing ourselves out of existence. We are an absurd plague.
